Sri Lanka is a tropical island with golden beaches, lush green trees, misty tea gardens interesting wildlife and rich culture attracted over 898 million tourists in 2007. The number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka from world over has been increasing steadily. Asia is the largest tourist generating region to Sri Lanka accounting for 40.9% of the total arrivals. The number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka from Singapore is on the increase. Singapore tourists comprise around 20% of the total tourist arrivals from Asia. In the year 2000 more than 7,000 Singaporeans visited Sri Lanka. It is noted that there is an increasing number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka to see the Buddhist sites and our ancient capitals.
