The Mission participated at Singapore Red Cross International Bazaar on Sunday, 15th March 2015. The Red Cross International Bazaar is an annual event which brings together the diplomatic missions in Singapore as well the local communities to raise funds for Singapore Red Cross local humanitarian services.
The mission set up a Sri Lankan Tea stall which saw thousands of people enjoy freshly brewed Sri Lankan tea. The total sales proceedings of tea were donated to The Singapore Red Cross. Whilst raising funds for charity the event also provided a good opportunity to promote Sri Lanka tea amongst Singaporeans as well as diplomatic staff and families.
His Excellency, President Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam of Singapore participated as the guest of honour at the event and enjoyed a cup of Sri Lankan tea at the Sri Lankan Tea stall.
The event was a success through the participation and goodwill. In the spirit of solidarity, diplomatic missions, local and international enterprises and civic groups came together to put up 77 stalls at the Red Cross International Bazaar. Additionally, the Bazaar has brought the diplomatic corps and local communities closer together, apart from allowing thousands who attended the event the unique opportunity to experience both global and local cultures, food and products. They have reached their target of S$ 250,000.
