Sri Lanka
a tropical island with golden beaches, lush green trees, misty tea gardens
interesting wildlife and rich culture attracts over half a million tourists
per year. The number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka from world over
has been increasing steadily. The second largest tourist generating
region to Sri Lanka next only to Western Europe is Asia which shares
around 26% of the tourist market.
Number
of tourists visiting Sri Lanka from Singapore is on the increase. Singapore
tourists comprise around 20% of the total tourist arrivals from Asia.
In the year 2000 more than 7,000 Singaporeans visited Sri Lanka. It
is noted that there is an increasing number of tourists visiting Sri
Lanka to see the Buddhist sites and our ancient capitals.
